The Marion Country Club....Built for a President

In 1920 a group of Marion businessmen including W. T. Jones, J. W. Jacoby, G. B. Knapp, M. C. McNeil, and F. B. Morrison met at the Chamber of Commerce to discuss plans for a golf course and country club to honor and please newly elected President Warren G. Harding and his many distinguished visitors. The original Clubhouse opened in 1921 with an informal reception and dance attended by about 500 members, guests and families of members. The Club enjoyed many notable visitors over the years including General Pershing and Major Doolittle, who landed his plane on the course.

Ever-evolving to meet the needs and environment of the community, The Marion Country Club has since expanded to complete a challenging 18 hole course, heated pool, paddle tennis court, as well as casual and fine dining facilities.

In addition to enjoying the many amenities offered at the Club, members can meet people and bring friends or family to a variety of social events held throughout the year.
